HER STORY | Stacey Cowell

Her Story. A series of blog posts telling the stories of 'women who ride' from all corners of the globe. We hope that by sharing these stories we can help encourage other women to build their confidence, learn from others and inspire others.

This month we have a story by Stacey aka 'The VS Chick', 37, from Queensland, Australia. Stacey has always had a craving for adrenaline and after she found her love for two wheels she started creating helpful moto video content on her YouTube channel.

We hope you enjoy her story!

My name is Stacey Cowell and I'm 37. I'm a primary school teacher in Hervey Bay, Queensland. I've been riding motorbikes for about four years and had a 100cc Beewee scooter before that.

I've always been a bit of an adventurous person, iinto all kinds of sports and especially loved wakeboarding. When I moved out of home, I stopped getting on the board because I didn't have a boat anymore.
Motorcycle adventures in Queensland, Australia
I decided to seek that adrenalin hit on two wheels instead! I didn't need a boat, spotter or perfect weather... just threw the helmet on and got going. Heaps easier on the knees as well!

I upgraded quite quickly and had bought and sold three different bikes within two years. My first bike was a 125 CBR. I then moved on to a Ninja 250R. I had the Ninja for about a year when I had a low speed motorbike accident. Another rider hit me from behind. My bike was written off and my confidence in other drivers on the road was tested as well.
Kawasaki Vulcan 650
I ended up upgrading to my current bike... a 2016 Vulcan S 650 and now have a much clearer understanding of motorbike riding awareness!
I now go motorbike camping quite often and regularly post videos on my YouTube channel.
Motorcycle camping
I am known as 'The VS Chick' and post a range of videos about installs, camping adventures, riding technique etc. I have become quite close with other Australian Moto Vloggers and am really loving that the little community we have is growing.

I have installed a few modifications to my Vulcan:
- custom seat
- brake & clutch install
- tail tidy
- Hoglight
- relay kit
- DC power plug
- shad panniers
- tank bag
- solo rack
My advice to new or experienced, young or old, men or women riders is to surround yourself with likeminded people. Learn from their experiences and enjoy the love of riding with those who understand what a privilege it is to be on two wheels.
There is seriously nothing better than feeling the wind on your chest as you cruise down the road on your two wheels.

Ride safe!
